About Melody Cookson

Born in Tampa, Melody came to Atlanta to attend Emory University and has been in love with the Metro Atlanta area ever since. A 25-year resident of Alpharetta, she has deep connections to the City. Melody has 15+ years of experience in the areas of Marketing, Communications, and Event Planning with a Master’s degree in Communications from Georgia State, and is a Project Management Professional (PMP). She has served on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, Alpharetta Presbyterian Church, Atlanta Junior Rowing Association and ACT1 Theater, and is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
 
Melody has a record of success in business startups, organizational fundraising, and management of large volunteer staffs. Melody will focus heavily on the delivery of membership benefits, day-to-day member support, and event planning and execution.
 
As a hobby and passion, Melody is the Managing Director of ACT1 Theater in Alpharetta – an Alpharetta Chamber member organization, partner with the City of Alpharetta Recreation, Parks and Cultural Services Department  and member organization of Arts Alpharetta.  She takes that passion for the arts to serve the City of Alpharetta as a Cultural Arts Commissioner.
